SCOTTISH TRUNK ROAD NETWORK MANAGEMENT CONTRACT – SOUTH EAST UNIT
A68 Pathhead – Overnight works commence Monday 11 December 2023 for three nights.
BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to resurface approximately 170 metres of the A68 in Pathhead on the approaches to the junction with Roman Camp.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, the A68 will be closed in both directions at the location of the works. Local access for residents will be permitted. Please find the enclosed location plan of the closure area for clarity. The closure will be in place between the hours of 19:30 and 06:30 on the nights of 11, 12 and 13 December.
During this period of closure, a diversion route will be signposted from the junction of A68 and B6458 (via Tynehead) to Sheriffhall Roundabout via the A7. A location plan showing this diversion route is attached. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. The diversion will add approximately 3.7 miles and an additional nine minutes to the journey.
If you require any further information or would like to comment on any of the proposed works please do not hesitate to contact us by email at SEConsultationroads@bearscotland.co.uk.

We have been sent notification on various road works and repairs that are presently in hand or will be starting. Please take a quick glance at it and pass it on for any one who may use these roads.
If you discover there are any roads closed or unsafe to travel on due to ice, snow or an accident please advise and we will place a notification up here to advise others . Thank you
With it coming up to the Winter months, we would ask you all to be extremely cautious of all roads, but in particular the back roads. Black ice is inevitable on the areas where the light is protected by trees or bushes so:
- On behalf of all please make all ‘new drivers’ aware of these hazards make sure you drive with care, especially going round the corners,
- Stay a safe distance away
- While preparing to turn sharp corners always imagine yourself coming round the same corner but from the other direction!
- Be aware of all pedestrians as you approach a junction or traffic lights
- A note for pedestrians – please always be aware of the stopping distance of any vehicle before crossing any road and teach your children the same.
On behalf of all who use our roads and pavements . . . thank you.
