FOR THE FUTURE OF LAUDERDALE YOUR THOUGHTS ARE IMPORTANT

As most of you will know there are a number of potential large wind-farm developments within and near to Lauder and Blainslie Parish.

The Lauderdale Community Council is keen that everyone’s views, whether they are neutral/negative/positive, can be represented in their response to the Wind-Farm proposals, therefore, would be grateful if you would be kind enough to complete this short SURVEY/QUESTIONNAIRE.

Please be assured your response will be anonymous.

QUESTIONNAIRE RETURNS: Responses will be collated and considered by LCC at the December meeting (11/12/23) to inform our response to the planning applications for these wind-farms.

DEADLINE FOR COMPLETION: WEDNESDAY 6th DECEMBER.

This is a photomontage of Ditcher Law Wind-Farm taken from A68 at Trabrown,

This would be the view from the A68 at the Newbigging junction

If you know anyone who would prefer to have a hard copy then they can be picked up from the Leisure Centre and Weigh Greener.

Thank you so much for taking time to help us come to a fair conclusion

Live Borders and Council seek views of communities to help
shape future of services

Hi Folks, the Lauderdale Community Council have been sent a link which we hope as many people as possible within our Community will respond to.

‘Borderers of all ages are being asked for their views on how public sport, leisure
and cultural services and facilities should be developed in their area over the
next decade.

A programme of community engagement, including public and school pupil
surveys and engagement events, is at the heart of a joint review of the sport,
leisure and cultural services and facilities owned by Scottish Borders Council and
operated by Live Borders. The focus is on the quality, quantity, accessibility,
affordability and ongoing sustainability of these services.

The joint review will inform proposals for the sustainable future development
and delivery of Live Borders services. Local people are urged to take this
opportunity to influence the proposals and further decision-making by sharing
what matters most to them. The public survey can be accessed via
www.scotborders.gov.uk/jointreview

Coronation Champions Awards

The below letter came in to the Community Council and it is felt that this should be shared by our whole Community so that they could personally choose to put a Member of our Community forward for the Coronation Champion Award

The King and Queen Consort will mark Their Coronations by celebrating inspiring volunteers who make far reaching and positive differences in their local communities with the introduction of The Coronation Champions Awards. The awards are to honour those who freely give their time, skills and energy to the vulnerable, individuals, organisations and communities. There are a number of categories of award, including Young Coronation Champions, aged between 14-18 years. The competition is managed by The Royal Voluntary Service and is raising the awareness of the impact of volunteering on communities and those that volunteer.

More information, including how to nominate can be found by following the link below:

www.royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk/coronation-champions-awards

Please be aware that nominations close on 2 April 2023.

Kind regards

RNID – Volunteer Recruitment

Good afternoon,

I would like to introduce myself as the new RNID Near You Coordinator for the Scottish Borders.  RNID is a UK wide charity supporting people who are Deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.

The Scottish Government and Scottish Borders HSCP (Health and Social Care Partnership) are funding a pilot programme to establish a network of volunteer run drop-in sessions across the Borders, where we’ll provide support with:

  • Hearing Aid Maintenance – Cleaning or changing tubing and replacing batteries.
  • Advice & Information – On your hearing loss
  • A Hearing Check – Online, it takes just 3 minutes

However, none of this will be possible without a small team of volunteers!  We have two different volunteer roles to offer:

All training and expenses will be provided.   For more information, or to apply online, please click on one of the links above or contact me directly.

I have attached a copy of our recruitment poster; please could you share this round your networks.  If you would like me to send you some hard copies, please let me know. Many thanks

Kind regards

THE BIG QUESTION 2017

Since the Big Question was put in place quite a wide variety of things have been put in to action. There will be a follow up on this discussed  at the next Lauderdale Community Council Meeting 13th February 2017 at the Blainslie Village Hall at 19:30pm as well as an article placed in the Spring Edition of the Lauderdale News.

A thank you must be given to all who have been working in the background to make the relevant topics happen.

Please do pop along to any of the meetings especially if you have any additional ideas or suggestions or indeed issues.

As a follow on to the Big Question or the forms you kindly filled in,  at the next LCC meeting, 11th July 2016 at the Blainslie Village Hall, the Focus Group will be presenting ways forward with the suggestions some of you (although sadly not all residents of Lauder participated in this) suggested for the future contentment of all ages within our Community.

We await to see what will be possible in the near future.

Please do come along and show your support in this or as some of you stated on the Big Question forms, you would be happy to help to make these become a reality for our Residents.

It takes Team work or a united Team  to make things happen, so let’s all unite together and make Lauderdale a Community filled with activities and interesting ideas for all ages.

There will be Public Meetings in due course, so watch this space.

You will soon be hearing lots about The Big Question! No, not the EU referendum something much closer to home. This is YOUR chance to have your say in the future of Lauderdale. Please take part in this survey and give us your views. Other ways of contributing your views will be winging their way towards you soon, one will be by the way of a Postcard which will be delivered to each house in our area.

It is important that all ages are included, so please ask your children and older relatives or friends to participate.

Each comment will be read, noted down and ways forward to meet your needs will be addressed during the coming months and In due course future Public meetings will be held to discuss matters relating to Lauderdale’s Future . Please note these meetings will be separate to the monthly Community Council meetings.
