Sub-Groups

To ease administration and also share the workload, LCC has a number of sub-groups who target their efforts on particular subjects.

Planning Group

* The Community Council is considered a statutory respondent for some applications e.g. wind farm developments, and considers others that are passed to us. Planning applications are considered individually on their merits and suitability. Lauderdale Community Council have two members dedicated to Planning and they are – Jack Ponton and Ross Montague.

Wind farm finance group

* This group looks at the potential community benefit from proposed wind farm developments e.g. sponsorship, use of local companies, material sourcing, production related community benefit etc.

The members of the above groups sit completely separately from one another and neither influence the other. In both however we try to reflect the views of the residents, and where appropriate, work with other community councils.

Lauderdale  Resilience Group

This Group was set up at the beginning of the Covid Pandemic and has been incredibly helpful to many. It is always active in dire situations for example ; bad weather, storms or  as we said earlier through the pandemic.  Kate J initiated this and we must thank her and her team for for all her work to date. The whole of Lauderdale has been extremely responsive and always pulls the stops out when in time of need.

Lauder in  Bloom

Initially, a Sub Group of Lauder Community Council, Lauder in Bloom are a friendly team of Volunteers who keep Lauder Burgh bright and cheerful. They work tirelessly weeding, watering and feeding the plants they have managed to produce and the ones which have been kindly donated.

They also show a great interest in educating the Towns younger generation on plants, bugs and insects by holding fun days such as the time they built an amazing Bug house out of reusable goods as well as creating special areas within Lauder Primary School.

Over the last few years their hard work has paid off as can be seen by the Awards they have /Lauder has won. An example is the photograph below.

Just as it it has paid off for some of the youngsters of Lauderdale who have succeeded in receiving their Duke of Edinburgh’s award by volunteering with them.

If you have some time to spare and would like to become part  of this friendly Team do contact them

Lauder Paths Network

One of the Pathways around the back of Thirlestane Drive

As can be seen from the above pictures this Group has recently been brought alive again and have been working tirelessly to keep all the beautiful pathways clear and are clearing older paths which have kind of been left for a little too long. If you have some spare time or have the skills/tools that could assist them you can message them via their Facebook page.

It is hoped the older website covering the Lauder  Path Network will also be renewed over the next couple of years but there are still some of the walks on it which need to be checked and photographed. If you feel this is something you could help with please contact them.
