There are a number of aspects that your Local Community Council can not do something about straight away, so if speed is of the essence it is suggested that individuals contact SBC directly.

The Below Survey closes on 9th January 2023 and hopefully a report will follow at some stage.

December 2022 Bus survey needs your help if you want to support the routes that Lauderdale so needs access to. Please can you all fill it in, even on behalf of someone else –  thank you.

Hi Folks,
For and on behalf of Scottish Borders Council
Borders businesses and residents are being encouraged to take part in a survey which will help shape the future of the bus network in the area. The survey will inform changes to help modernise bus travel across the Scottish Borders.
Following changes to travel habits, both gradual and more significantly following the Covid-19 pandemic, it is important that a modern bus network is put in place. A bus network which reflects changes in society, increases bus usage, provides opportunities for young people to stay in the region and helps support the behavioural change necessary to achieve Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. Currently the Scottish Borders is served by 42 bus routes, which have remained largely unchanged for many years and are run by multiple bus operators. Fixed route services are supplemented by a small number of Demand Responsive Transport services, including PINGO in Berwickshire. The majority of services are subsidised by Scottish Borders Council funding.
Through the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal work has been ongoing with employers and education providers to map workforce and student travel habits. This, alongside existing bus usage data and the survey results, will help to identify opportunities to create better public transport solutions based on a robust understanding of where and when there is travel demand.
The bus network review will take into consideration new working habits post-Covid as well as local transport developments, such as the opening of Reston Station, the planned investment into a coast-to-coast cycle route and the Destination Tweed trail, amongst a range of considerations.
The survey can be completed online at www.scotborders.gov.uk/busnetworkreview2022 and is open until 9 January 2023. You can also access the online survey via the Scottish Borders Council website.

If you have issues or know people who have concerns with potential planning suggestions please note that the Lauderdale Community Council will note all concerns from their Community and take them forward but remember the more people who place comments on the relevant Portal the more likely the issues or concerns will be addressed.

At present there are two Members of the Community Council who are overseeing potential Planning notifications and they are Jack Ponton and Ross Montague, although our Chairman is usually up to the mark with what is going on.
